maaike roozenburg: crate
dutch designer maaike roozenburg has given us a look at here newest design, a collection of lamps named
'crate'. the lamps are each made from polypropylene vegetable crates commonly found at markets to ship
and display fruits and vegetables. roozenburg described the new collection as 'a tribute to industrial design
and production’. she points out thatthese crates were designed with pure functionalism in mind and not
aesthetics. however by adding a lamp to the iside and wrapping the boxes with a thin sheet of material,
she has transformed the object into a pattern for dispersing light.
