renault has announced plans to beginning selling their zero emissions compact car the zoe ZE concept by 2012. the new car was developed in collaboration with biotherm research to not only care for the health of the environment but also the health of the driver and their passengers. the all electric car is a little different than other similar ones hitting the market in thee next few years. the car is sold without its battery, opting to lease the integral component to consumers. this system allows users to recharge in what renault calls a ‘quick drop’, a simple battery exchange that take only 3 minutes. beyond that users can also charge up quickly or do a full recharge on their own. on top of thee car, a protective membrane insulates the car from the exterior and recovers energy through  honeycomb photovoltaic cells. on the front and back of the vehicle the car has gel bumpers that protect against minor nicks and scratches.
