Zecc Architecten - Church House

My old boss lives in a converted church in Brooklyn (a post for another day!), and ever since seeing her place, I've been totally in love with the possibilities of living in an old church building - the open plan, high ceilings, the mixing of old and new...Zecc Architecten converted this Catholic church in Utrecht into a private residence. They highlighted the original details - the stained glass windows, the organ, the archways and cross - by painting everything else white, which I both like and dislike at the same time. While I love the highlighting of these details, I wish that they had allowed the floors to be their own material - there's something relentless about the floors/walls/ceiling all being white, and I think the same emphasis on the existing details could have been achieved even with the floors being a different material/color. Regardless, though, it's an awesome building and I would live here in a heartbeat!
