‘from here to then and back again’ by tommy stockel, 2008
danish artist tommy stockel exhibited this massive installation recently at the kunstverein langenhagen
in langenhagenl, germany. titled ‘from here to then and back again’ the piece measures about 20m long
and just under 1m in diameter. the sculpture is a long tube that is adorned with small surface details that
make it look like it is rotting or disintegrating. the work was installe3d in a long corridor inside the gallery.
some of the sections are completely cut through, exposing a geometric blue inside or soft grey triangles
that recall a larger-than-life cable. some of the other details recall computer graphics and pixilated images. stockel lives and works in berlin.
