Simplicity and Style Meet in Gorgeous Bicycle

DV01 is a bicycle concept for people who want a bike to be a convenient means of transportation and a product with high aesthetic value. For many people a bicycle is a place to express personal style. It’s also a product that consists of many different components and parts, which all affect the overall impression. The focus of the project has been about finding a balance between those components. When form and function interact in a successful symbiosis, the product may last longer and loved by more people. Beautiful work David!

Bendy Bicycle by Kevin Scott

Bendy Bicycle by Kevin Scott

Bendy Bicycle by
Kevin Scott
Gear  |  Bike
British designer, Kevin Scott, 21(De Montfort University graduate), has designed a awesome bendable bicycle that can tie itself to a lamp post without the need for a lock or chain. He used a ratchet system built into the frame of the bike to allow it to wrap around a pole, enabling a single bike lock to be wrapped through both wheels and the frame. And its frame can be ratcheted tight to allow the bike to be ridden like a normal bike. Mr Scott's bike is currently on show at the New Designers show at the Business Design Centre in Islington, north London. [image credit: Tony Kyriacou/Rex Features]

ONEYBIKE by Peter Varga

Break out those handlebar mustaches ladies and gents, it’s time for some old-school, two wheeled fun. Sit back and relax as the ONEYBIKE by Peter Varga takes you on a journey that harkens a simpler time when public streets smelled like horse manure and so did the men. Inspired by the classic High Wheeler bikes of the 1880s, as well as the recumbent bikes we saw those “granola types” riding in the 1990s. This design features a folding mechanism for easy storage and recently participated in the 14th International Bicycle Design Competition in Taiwan. I am happy to report this design does NOT feature USB, WiFi or any sort of iPhone integration.

Tenkei (literally “typical form” ) focuses on product design with an emphasis on the following guidelines:
1)    There is no such thing as Tenkei (typical). It is a function of the culture of which it dwells.
2)    Tenkei is: easy to use and easy to produce. A prerequisite is that there is steady demand for production.
3)    Tenkei can take on different variations, effectively expanding its life span.

The contrast between the metallic spokes and the minimal concrete just makes my design heart spin.

sanyo SPL eneloop bicycle

sanyo has just announced the release of their new SPL eneloop bicycle which has a unique regenerative
charging system that stores up energy created while pedaling. the new model will be ready by april 2010
in japan only and will sell for around 1,800 USD. the bike has a large eneloop battery  that instead of
charging through an electrical outlet, can be charged while the user is riding the bike. the battery saves
energy created when the rider is going downhill or braking, and stores this for future use. in such a
scenario, the rider could ride down a hill and use the energy created by the bike to then ride up the hill
using the eclectic motor. this type of regenerative has been in use in cars for some time such as in the
toyota prius.

Tron Turquoise Is The New Black

With Tron Legacy set to debut in 2010, don't be surprised if turquoise and, more specifically, turquoise LED strips get slapped onto anything and everything.

Exhibit A: The Pulse, a concept fixed-gear with electric turn signals and a luminescent frame...

pulse_introimage.jpg

Personally, I'm into it — as you can probably tell from my use of the color on BBG posts.
