emilie voirin: bun box, whips and shaving brush
‘bun box’ by emilie voirin, 2010
french designer emilie voirin recently completed a series of new projects all based on the concept of hair. voirin dubbed these 3 new designs ‘hairy projects’ and showed them during london design week. ‘bun box’ is a series of porcelain boxes that have lids made from hair, knotted and wound into tight little buns. the boxes all have a different base and different hairstyle. ‘whip’ and ‘shaving brush’ continue the hair theme with a series of small whips and brushes made from long flowing locks of hair. while these designs are normally blunt and sharp, the use of long human hair gives them a new gentler character. these designs can be made with variety of different hair colours, both human and synthetic.
